‘CCBC Choices 2024’ highlights the best children’s books of past year

The Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC) has released its “CCBC Choices 2024” — a best-of-the-year list created annually by the center’s librarians. The list recommends 238 books published in 2023 for children and teens from birth through high school age, organized by category in the publication with images, descriptions, and annotations.

CCBC Choices 2024 book cover“CCBC Choices” is easily accessible online as a digital edition, and each book is searchable through the CCBC — Recommended Book Search database.

For those wanting to learn more about some of the books in this year’s “CCBC Choices 2024,” the center’s librarians are hosting two online Choices presentations sponsored by the South Central Library System in March and April:

See the CCBC events calendar for details about these online opportunities, as well as other outreach events around the state. If you are not able to attend the sessions live, they will be recorded and available for viewing afterward on this Online Presentations Archive webpage.

Administratively housed in the School of Education and also supported by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the CCBC serves as a resource to Wisconsin schools, teachers, librarians, and others interested in children’s and young adult literature. The center’s Diversity Statistics document books for children and teens it receives annually by and about Black, Indigenous, and people of color.
