This summer, the School of Education’s’ Department of Theatre and Drama is putting on a production of “Evil Dead: The Musical,” which runs through Aug. 25. 

The musical binds elements from the cult classic films “The Evil Dead,” “Evil Dead 2,” and “Army of Darkness” into a chaotic, comedic, and musical adventure.

UW–Madison senior Cobi Tappa, who plays lead character Ashly Williams, says “it’s the perfect musical for someone who needs to laugh and get away from it all. It’s a great balance of horror, camp, and hilarity that makes it a must see for college students and the greater-Madison community alike.”

The musical follows five college students as they explore an abandoned cabin and accidentally unleash an evil force set to destroy all of mankind. A housewares employee turned demon killer, it’s up to Ashly and his chainsaw to save the day.

Following the summer production, “Evil Dead” returns to the stage for a second run, Sept. 12-29.
