Underwood speaks with Education Week about state’s future with Evers as governor
The article begins: “Wisconsin’s top school official will now take over as that state’s governor, and that could mean increases in public school funding, along with better relations with teachers and organized labor.”

Among the experts providing insight into the results of this contested election is UW–Madison’s Julie Underwood, the Susan Engeleiter Professor of Education Law, Policy and Practice, and the former dean of the School of Education.
Underwood comments on the significance of Evers’ victory over Walker, saying an “educator just showed Scott Walker the door, an educator showed a professional politician the door.”
Evers also bears ties to the School of Education — he earned his master’s from the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in 1976 and a Ph.D. from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 1986.
