UW–Madison’s Hora to share insights on internships in upcoming webinar

UW–Madison’s Matthew Hora will join a panel of experts next week on a national webinar hosted by Inside Higher Ed that is titled, “From College to Career: Increasing Access to Quality Internships.”

Matthew Hora

Hora is an associate professor of adult and higher education with the Division of Continuing Studies and with the School of Education’s Department of Educational Policy Studies. He is also co-director of UW–Madison’s Center for Research on College-Workforce Transitions (CCWT).

The webinar, on Wednesday, July 10, at 2 p.m. EDT, is free (but registration is required), and will focus on how institutions can improve the internship experience for their students and increase access to quality work-based learning opportunities.

Questions the panel will discuss include:

  • What constitutes a quality internship?
  • How have different institution types boosted access to internships for their students?
  • How does equity factor into discussions about work-based learning?
  • How can institutions successfully partner with employers or employer networks to boost opportunities for students?

The webinar will also highlight findings from a new Strada Education Foundation report that used a survey developed by CCWT to examine the reasons college students seek internships, common barriers they face, and the overall quality of their experiences.
