UW–Madison’s White Hawk selected for Whitney Museum biennial

UW–Madison alumna and incoming painting professor Dyani White Hawk has been selected for the Whitney Museum of American Art’s 80th biennial exhibition, “Quiet as It’s Kept.” White Hawk, one of four Native artists to be included in this year's biennial, has created a large-scale, mixed-media piece rooted in Lakota aesthetics to show at the exhibition.

MMOCA receives significant grant supporting fall exhibition of work by UW–Madison’s Abdu’Allah

The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMOCA) has been selected for a significant grant award from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts that will support a fall 2022 exhibition of work by UW–Madison’s Faisal Abdu’Allah, the associate dean of the arts in the School of Education. Abdu'Allah's DARK MATTER, opening Sept. 17, 2022, explores cultural representation and the systems of power that structure our experiences of the world.

Work by UW–Madison student promoting ‘sustainable style’ is selected for national exhibition

A project by UW–Madison student Nicole Golownia has been selected for ARTIFACT [BOLD], a national biennial exhibition of graphic design, new media, illustration, printmaking, and the expanded field that is taking place Jan. 24 – Mar. 11 at High Point University in High Point, North Carolina. Golownia is pursuing her BFA in graphic design within the School of Education’s Art Department.

UW–Madison alumna Dyani White Hawk receives $25,000 award

UW–Madison alumna Dyani White Hawk is the recipient of a 2021 award from the New York-based organization, Anonymous was a Woman. White Hawk earned her MFA from the School of Education’s Art Department in 2011. She is a visual artist and independent curator based in Minneapolis.
