UW-Madison’s School of Education is welcoming faculty and staff back to campus with its typical Welcome Back Bash event on Thursday, Sept. 2. The School will again introduce new faculty members during the event, with three talented scholars joining us for the start of the fall semester.

Spatula&Barcode has announced five additional participatory artworks in the "Home Stretch" festival taking place throughout the summer, bringing the total number of projects to 17. Spatula&Barcode, a Madison-based arts collaborative, was founded by Art Department’s Laurie Beth Clark and Michael Peterson.

UW–Madison’s Yeoyhun Ahn, an assistant professor in the School of Education's Art Department, was featured on the platform Femme Type, in an article headlined “Yeoyhun Ahn Fuses Coding and Calligraphy in a Groundbreaking New Project.”

The latest edition of Learning Connections, a magazine for alumni and friends of the UW–Madison School of Education, is now posted online. The Summer 2021 issue centers on the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and the many lessons learned. In addition, we spotlight a range of important and innovative work being done across the School.

The arts collaborative Spatula&Barcode has launched "Home Stretch," a “distributed festival” of small artistic acts taking place in Madison, Wisconsin, between the summer solstice (June 21) and the autumn equinox (September 22). The collaborative was founded by Laurie Beth Clark and Michael Peterson, both faculty in the School of Education's Art Department.

There is a new space for the arts in downtown Madison, and work by a UW–Madison art students recent alumnus was featured in its inaugural exhibit. The exhibit, titled “The Burden of Reality,” showcased the art of BFA student Paulina Eguino and spring 2021 graduate Tony Torres.

The work of UW–Madison’s Faisal Abdu’Allah is featured in the exhibition, “Artists Without Borders: Reflections on Art and Place,” presented by the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA). Abdu'Allah is the Chazen Family Distinguished Chair in the School of Education's Art Department.
