UW–Madison’s John Diamond was a guest on Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Central Time” program on July 21 to talk about the debate raging in Wisconsin and across the nation about whether schools should re-open this fall — or continue with virtual learning. Diamond holds the Kellner Family Distinguished Chair in Urban Education with the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.

The Student Success Through Applied Research (SSTAR) Lab, directed by UW–Madison’s Nick Hillman, has launched a new series on its website titled, "Student Debt in Wisconsin."

Carlton Jenkins, an alumnus of UW–Madison’s School of Education, was recently named the superintendent of the Madison Metropolitan School District, a position he will begin on Aug. 4. Jenkins earned both his master’s (1993) and PhD (2009) from the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.

The University of Wisconsin–Madison plans to begin fall classes as scheduled on Sept. 2 and offer in-person instruction in many courses until the Thanksgiving recess, the university announced on Wednesday, June 17. UW-Madison’s Jerlando Jackson co-authored a recent article titled, “Mixed-reality simulations to build capacity for advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the geosciences.” Co-authors on this paper include Jason Chen of the William & Mary School of Education and M.
