UW–Madison’s Stamm discusses new concussion indicator in CNN report

According to the article, researchers found that a quick lateral shake of the head, dubbed a "spontaneous headshake after a kinematic event" (SHAAKE), may indicate a concussion. UW–Madison's Julie Stamm, who was not involved in the study, said it was “long overdue” to recognize this headshake in a more formal way.

New Faculty Profile: Looking at how exercise changes mood

New kinesiology faculty member Jacob Meyer is interested in developing and testing behavioral interventions to treat mental health conditions, particularly depression. In particular, he’s exploring ways to integrate movement into mental health treatment and determine how physical activity actually changes mood at the molecular and mechanistic levels.
