UW–Madison’s Douglas Rosenberg has been honored with the distinguished Choreoscope Honorary Award presented at the Barcelona Dance Film Festival 2024.

This award celebrates filmmakers who have made significant contributions to dance cinema, recognizing Rosenberg’s remarkable work over the past 30 years.
A Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor in the School of Education’s Art Department, Rosenberg is an interdisciplinary artist and theorist who works at the intersection of performance and media. His work spanning screendance, video, film, and performance has earned him recognition in museums, festivals, and galleries across the globe.
Beyond his work as an artist, Rosenberg has also made significant contributions as an educator and writer. In 2015, as chair of UW–Madison’s Art Department, he began a weekly writing practice that led to the creation of his recently published book, “Staring at the Sky: Essays on Art and Culture.”
