UW–Madison’s Simon Goldberg, an associate professor in the School of Education’s Department of Counseling Psychology, recently presented at the Mindfulness and Compassion Grand Rounds at Harvard Medical School.

Goldberg’s talk, titled “What Have We Learned From Two Decades of Randomized Trials Testing Meditation-Based Interventions?” offered findings from numerous randomized trials evaluating meditation-based programs.
Drawing on large-scale meta-analyses, Goldberg discussed what the research reveals about the outcomes and therapeutic potential of these interventions. He also shared results from a current project aimed to create a publicly available database of trials and support research synthesis.
Goldberg, who is also a faculty member with UW–Madison’s Center for Healthy Minds, examines mindfulness and meditation-based interventions using tools from psychotherapy research. He is currently supported by a five-year K23 award from the National Institutes of Health focused on mobile delivery of meditation training.
