The Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC) released its latest “CCBC Choices” — and this year’s publication is shifting from print to online. This best-of-the-year list is created annually by the librarians of the CCBC.
In addition to what is typically found in “CCBC Choices” — including annotations and age recommendations for each book highlighted — the “CCBC Choices 2023” features enhancements due to the digital redesign, including:
- Cover images for each book
- Links to each book’s entry in the CCBC-Recommended Book Search database, where custom lists can be created
Access “CCBC Choices 2023” online as a digital edition, or search for books in the CCBC — Recommended Book Search database.
For those wanting to learn even more about the books in “CCBC Choices 2023,” the center’s librarians will be doing two online Choices presentations sponsored by the South Central Library System in March:
- March 15, 9 to 10 a.m. — Great New Books for Children Birth – Grade 5
- March 29, 9 to 10 a.m. — Great New Books for Older Children and Teens (Grades 6-12)
If you can’t attend the sessions live, they will be recorded and available for viewing afterward on this Online Presentations Archive page. A full list of events can be found here.
Books in this latest edition of “CCBC Choices” were published and/or released in the United States in 2022, and are organized by category in the publication, with images, descriptions, and annotations.
The CCBC is a library of the UW–Madison School of Education. It is a unique and vital gathering place for books, ideas, and expertise in the field of children’s and young adult literature.
