Buie is part of the most recent cohort of artists announced for the center’s 19-acre campus, along with Mark Bradford, Jay Heikes, Carrie Mae Weems, and the duo Sam Kirk + Dorian Sylvain. More than two dozen artists have been selected to contribute work to the center’s public indoor and outdoor spaces.

Buie’s installation, titled “Be the Change!” will feature screenprinted imagery about hope, change, and civic participation. The work is inspired in part by her involvement with Barack Obama’s 2004 U.S. Senate campaign. The installation will be located in the Center’s Forum building.

The Obama Presidential Center, designed by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, is scheduled to open in June 2026. The campus will include a presidential library and museum, a Chicago Public Library branch, gardens, a playground, and an athletic center.
