The UW–Madison Art Department will host its inaugural Spring Spectacular on Friday, April 25, with events taking place from 12 to 7 p.m. in both the Humanities Building (455 N. Park St., sixth and seventh floors) and the Art Lofts (111 N. Frances St.).
This spring open house will include open studios, a Foundation Showcase, and BFA reception. From 12 to 5 p.m., visitors can explore more than 50 artist studios representing all art disciplines, view student work displayed throughout classrooms and hallways as part of the Foundation Showcase, and meet student artists to learn more about their creative processes.
The BFA reception will follow from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Art Lofts Gallery, highlighting work by BFA undergraduate students.
Additional exhibitions will also be on view throughout the day. These include:
- Jackelin Espinosa Moyotl’s Master of Fine Arts Qualifier Exhibition, in Gallery 7 (Room 7240 on the seventh floor of the Humanities Building); and
- Casey Fletcher’s Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition, titled “American Sisyphus,” in the Backspace Gallery (located in the warehouse and loading dock of the Art Lofts building).
Guests visiting the Humanities Building should note that only one elevator reaches the sixth and seventh floors. The building is best accessed through the open breezeway on the ground floor. Enter through the doors marked “ART” in large white letters (E01-02), located nearest to the back entrance of the Chazen Museum. Once inside, the stairs and elevator are to the left in the lobby.
All events are free and open to the public! Learn more and RSVP on Facebook.
