Underwood is the Susan Engeleiter Professor of Education Law, Policy and Practice, and the former dean of the School of Education.The MHEC was created legislatively to provide greater higher education opportunities and services to the Midwestern region. It works with member states to create solutions that build higher education’s capacity to better serve institutions, individuals, and states.
In addition to Wisconsin, MHEC member states include Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, and South Dakota. The organization’s work uses the region’s resources, expertise, ideas, and experiences to collaborate and achieve outcomes that would not be realized by institutions acting independently.
