A new resource for educators of multilingual children is available from UW–Madison’s WIDA, housed in the School of Education’s Wisconsin Center for Education Research.
The WIDA Focus Bulletin, titled “Promoting Equity for Young Multilingual Children,” offers ideas for taking a language–focused approach to equitable caregiving and instructional practice in early childhood education (ECE) settings. It also highlights voices from the field, and offers reflection questions, to help educators consider what it means to promote equity for multilingual children and their families.
Lorena Mancilla, the director of WIDA Early Years, said about the publication: “The content is deeply informed by our work with audiences across the states. We’ve seen such a strong interest in more resources to promote self-reflection and help raise awareness about equity.”
It is available for download via the WIDA website, here.
