UW–Madison’s David Furumoto is part of the cast of the virtual performance of the play “Haiku,” by Judy Dove, which was presented by Goodly Frame Theatre as part of its Zoom Fest 2020, Series 2.

Furamoto is a professor of acting in the School of Education’s Department of Theatre and Drama, as well as the artistic director of University Theatre.
Goodly Frame Theatre, located in North Carolina, created Zoom Fest 2020 as a showcase to center Black playwrights and playwrights of color, as well as theatre artists of color, as producers, directors, and actors. More information about the series can be found on the company’s website.
“Haiku,” which premiered Sept. 2, is a richly told story of a Japanese young woman making a home for herself and her two children in America on the cusp of World War II. The performance is available via Goodly Frame Theatre’s YouTube channel, here.
