How many times have you passed Lathrop Hall, an early-20th century Renaissance Revival architectural gem overlooking University Avenue, and never given a thought to what goes on inside?

Lathrop Hall is home of the acclaimed School of Education Dance Department, with 12,600 square feet of studio space and a fully equipped, 240-seat theater. It is described in the introductory text for the video as “both historic and dynamic.”

The building was founded in 1910 and was originally dedicated to the study and research of women’s physical education. “And it was in this building that dance as a university subject began,” explains Walker in the video.

“One thing I love about Lathrop Hall is feeling like I am walking through history every time I come to work,” Walker adds.
