UW–Madison’s Erica O. Turner, an associate professor in the School of Education’s Department of Educational Policy Studies, was a panelist for a colloquium hosted by the Center for Ethics and Values (CEHV) at Ohio State University earlier this month.

The colloquium, titled “Why Integrate Schools in Our Segregated World,” examined the democratic obstacles and opportunities present in school integration efforts. After speaking about her book, “Suddenly Diverse: How School Districts Manage Race and Inequality,” Turner discussed questions of segregation, integration, and equity with co-panelist Lawrence Blum, a distinguished professor of liberal arts and education and professor of philosophy (emeritus) at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

The colloquium was part of CEHV’s 2022 COMPAS Program on Education in Our Democracy.
