The UW–Madison YouTube channel recently shined a light on the work of Ariel (AJ) Juarez, an instructor in the School of Education’s Dance Department.

Juarez specializes in teaching the foundations of hip-hop, including the likes of house, breakdancing, litefeet, and party moves in his classes. He is also the owner of Barrio Dance in Madison.
In the video, he talks about how he strives to show his students ways that dance can uplift our community and connect people.
Dancing can heal you, change your mood, and “take you to good places in mind and body,” Juarez says in the video. “My main goal is to bring people together who want to connect through dancing, but also elevate each other.”
