The Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC) has released “CCBC Choices 2026,” an annual best-of-the-year list created by the center’s librarians recommending books for children and teens.
CCBC Choices 2026 recommends 231 books published in 2025 for readers from birth through high school age. The digital publication includes full bibliographic citations, annotations, age recommendations, cover images, and links to each book’s entry in the CCBC Recommended Book Search database, where users can create custom lists. The publication also includes an introductory essay and a name/title index, and a citation list is available on the CCBC website.
For those interested in learning more about titles included in the list, CCBC librarians will present two webinars hosted by the South Central Library System in March and April:
- Wednesday, March 18, 9 to 10 a.m. — Great New Books for Children (Birth – Grade 5)
- Wednesday, April 22, 9 to 10 a.m. — Great New Books for Older Children and Teens (Grades 6–12)
See the CCBC events calendar for details about these online sessions and other outreach events around the state.
Administratively housed in the UW–Madison School of Education and supported by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the CCBC serves as a resource for Wisconsin schools, teachers, librarians, and others interested in children’s and young adult literature.
