Shining a light on their work in the classroom, an outstanding 124 student-athletes from UW–Madison’s fall sports teams were named to the 2022-23 Academic All-Big Ten Team, as announced by the Big Ten earlier this month. Of these, 20 are students pursuing degrees in the School of Education.

The Big Ten Conference recognized a total of 1,619 students on fall sports rosters who have been named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of Nov. 1 for fall sports; have been enrolled full-time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months; and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Leading their fellow Badgers in the classroom, six Wisconsin student-athletes all maintained perfect 4.0 grade-point averages, including Ashley Martinez, a women’s soccer player in the School of Education’s Department of Kinesiology.
