UW–Madison students and productions from the School of Education’s Department of Theatre and Drama received multiple honors at the American College Theatre Festival.
For “cullud wattah,” Jayda Smith and J’Nya Smith were nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship in recognition of their outstanding performances. Arje Wilson received a commendation for costume design.

The production of “Much Ado About Nothing” was also recognized. Malika Daikawa and Christian Carter earned Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship nominations for their performances, while the entire cast was commended for Best Ensemble Work. Baron Kelly received a Commendation of Merit for his direction.

The Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship honors outstanding student performers and provides financial support for further education.
These recognitions were awarded during the ACTF Region 3 conference, held Jan. 6–10 at Madison College.
