A book review published in the Teachers College Record examines a recent publication from UW–Madison faculty member Anjalé Welton.

Welton is a professor in the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.
The review, by Carolyn Shields (Wayne State University), calls the book, titled “Anti-Racist Educational Leadership and Policy,” a “must-read book for anyone interested in both antiracism and educational policy.”
Welton co-authored the book with Sarah Diem of Missouri State University in 2020.
Shields notes that throughout the chapters, “the authors carefully and critically analyze policies related to demographic change, school choice, school closure, standardized testing, school funding, and the discipline-related school-to-prison pipeline.”
She recommends the book for “any policy making or policy analysis class that wants to link the topic of policy with equity and antiracism.”
