Dance Department presents Kloepper Concert of student work Dec. 6–7


The UW–Madison Dance Department presents the annual Kloepper Concert, a performance of new student work, Dec. 6–7 in the Margaret H’Doubler Performance Space in Lathrop Hall.

The concert will feature a variety of contemporary dance works from student choreographers Jared Cataggatan, Reagan Coussens, Lilly Dempski, Neva Hinsey, Juliana Laird, Maya Rustenburg, Vivian Simpson, Marissa Stolt, Emily Tlachac, and Julia Vondrak. Work by First-Year Workshop students will also be on the program.

Louise Kloepper, who the concert is named for, is a former chair of the Dance Department. She came to UW–Madison in 1942 to study dance, after almost a decade teaching and dancing with the Hanya Holm School and Company. In 1942, she was the first dance professional admitted as a dance student on the UW–Madison campus. The same year she graduated, in 1946, she became an assistant professor at UW–Madison. Kloepper was a distinguished teacher of dance technique and composition, serving as artistic director and producer for many faculty-student presentations. She chaired the program for several years and was a professor of dance until she retired in 1975.

Performances of this year’s Kloepper Concert will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2:30 p.m. A livestream option is also available.
