Three books by UW–Madison’s Thomas Popkewitz have recently bolstered their international reach and were translated and published in Chinese. They are:

- “Systems of Reason and the Politics of Schooling: School Reform and Sciences of Education in the Tradition of Thomas S. Popkewitz” — This work brings together international scholars from the fields of curriculum studies, philosophy history, linguistics, comparative education, and the sociology of education to consider the paradigmatic contributions of Popkewitz to the study of schooling.
- “Myth of Educational Reform: A Study of School Response to a Program of Change” — This book is a qualitative study of exemplars of the program in diverse geographical locations, and different social, religious, and racial/ethnic contexts.
- “Political Sociology of Educational Reform: Power/Knowledge in Teaching, Teacher Education, and Research” — This book connects historical, discursive, and ethnographic analyses to trace the paradoxes of exclusion and abjections in educational efforts.
Popkewitz, a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, studies the political and cultural politics of education knowledge and its comparative reason.
Overall, Popkewitz has edited or authored about 40 books that have been published into 17 languages and have won awards both nationally and internationally.
