UW–Madison alumnus Anand Marri was recently named provost and vice president of academic affairs at Ball State University, after serving as interim provost since April 2023.

According to the chair of Ball State’s Board of Trustees, Renae Conley: “Since arriving at Ball State more than three years ago, Marri has continued to display a commitment to student success and the critical role our faculty and staff play in those objectives — a key attribute that will serve him, and the University, well moving forward in his new position.”
Before becoming interim provost, Marri served as the dean of Teachers College at Ball State. There, according to a press release, he contributed to enrollment increases, staff research, and increased funding, and also, “personally secured the largest single philanthropic gift in the history of Teachers College — a $1.45 million commitment.”
Marri earned his PhD from the School of Education’s highly ranked Department of Curriculum and Instruction in 2003. He also serves as a member of the School of Education’s Board of Visitors.
