UW–Madison’s Burt joins National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine roundtable

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recently selected UW–Madison’s Brian Burt to serve on its new Roundtable on Mentorship, Well-being, and Professional Development.

Burt

Burt is an associate professor with the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, and he is the director and chief research scientist with Wisconsin’s Equity and Inclusion Laboratory (Wei LAB). He seeks to provide new ways to understand science participation and the experiences that might attract students to or turn them away from science pathways in his research.

The roundtable will look at how to create and maintain an inclusive and equitable higher education and STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine) research ecosystem. In particular, it will focus on the role of identity, inclusion, personal agency, and well-being in mentoring relationships and career development of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in STEMM.
